Personal Development at St. Cuthbert’s

Character Education at St Cuthbert’s

Character Education is central to the Personal Development programme at St Cuthbert’s. We have decided to adopt the PIXL LORIC programme and then adapt it to meet the needs of our students.

The programme is built around the 5 following character virtues:

  • Leadership
  • Organisation
  • Resilience
  • Initiative
  • Communication

The programme is delivered during the first half term of the year through once weekly sessions in form time. This is then built upon during students’ Skills For Life lessons. Students in all year groups receive character education which builds upon the work that they have done in previous years.

Aims of the programme:

  • To develop traits in our young people that will allow them to become the leaders of tomorrow
  • Alongside our enrichment curriculum, to develop students sense of pride, belonging and identity in our school
  • To develop students understanding of being considerate and respectful towards others
  • To give pupils the opportunity to develop their character traits to contribute to the Catholic Life of the school – supporting the Lenten and Advent charities and volunteering through activities such as the Duke of Edinburgh Award
