Catholic Life – Sacraments and Worship at Our School

At the heart of our school community is our shared Catholic faith, which we live out through prayer, liturgy, and the sacraments. Our chaplaincy team and Religious Education department work closely to support pupils on their faith journey from Year 7 through to Year 11.

Students in Year 8 are invited to prepare for the Sacrament of Confirmation, deepening their relationship with the Holy Spirit and becoming full adult members of the Church.

  • Preparation takes place through local parishes and is supported by the school through:
  • Opportunities for prayer and reflection
  • Supportive sessions with Sister Linda Pergega
  • Retreat or enrichment opportunities
  • Interested pupils should speak to their RE teacher or their local parish priest.
  • Parents will receive information from their parish in the autumn term.
  • “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you.” – Acts 1:8

The Eucharist is the source and summit of our Catholic life. We are blessed to celebrate Mass regularly throughout the school year:

  • Each term, one year group gathers to celebrate Mass, often marking a key liturgical feast or theme.
  • Feast days and Holy Days of Obligation are observed with whole-school or year group liturgies.
  • The school encourages students to take active roles as readers, altar servers, musicians, and in offertory processions.

Masses are celebrated by our governor Fr. Michael.

As a Catholic school, we mark the Holy Days of Obligation with reverence and celebration. These include:

  • All Saints’ Day (1 November)
  • The Immaculate Conception (8 December)
  • Ascension of the Lord (40 days after Easter)
  • Saints Peter and Paul (29 June)

We ensure students understand the significance of these holy days and are invited to participate fully in liturgical celebrations.

During the liturgical seasons of Advent and Lent, students are invited to deepen their faith and prepare their hearts through:

  • Reconciliation Services for all year groups, led by our chaplaincy team with visiting priests offering the Sacrament of Confession
  • Daily prayer reflections and themes during form time
  • Opportunities for charitable giving and acts of service
