The aim of the Design & Technology curriculum is to ensure that all students, whatever their prior experiences, are able to access lessons that are engaging, practical and appropriately challenging. We aim to do this by removing barriers to learning and equipping students with the knowledge and skills needed to design, create and problem-solve with confidence.
We do this by ensuring that core skills and key knowledge are revisited and built upon over time, so that students develop a secure foundation before moving on to more complex projects. This approach allows learners to grow in independence while also reinforcing their understanding through practical application.
Our curriculum is designed to be adaptive, allowing teachers to support those who need extra help while providing opportunities for others to extend their learning, think creatively, and refine their technical abilities.
Ultimately, our aim at St Cuthbert’s is that every child leaves with the practical knowledge, creative confidence and recognised qualifications in Design & Technology that will enable them to thrive in further education, employment or training.
